Hello! My name is Leanne and I am thrilled to be transitioning into private practice after 20 years as a registered Social Worker. Having worked primarily in the healthcare system, I gained extensive experience in the areas of interpersonal violence, trauma, intergenerational trauma, mental health, and addictions. I have extensive experience working with women and their families as well as in Indigenous and Metis health.
I was inspired to create Alder Wellness because it appeared that institutionalized supportive care services, while well intentioned, were overburdened, often failing to provide adequate support for those needing it the most. People were seen through the lens of their disease or diagnosis, however, without the greater context of culture, spirituality, family and health, solutions were limited at best, and often became another source of trauma.
Life writes on all of us in different ways impacting how we relate to the world and our place in it. Through a strengths based, people centered approach, we embark, together, on a journey of defining values, getting clear on boundaries and slowly building a toolkit that allows us to meet life’s challenges with flexibility and resilience. Staying connected to our values in the face of adversity is the beacon that guides us when all other lights seem to have gone out.
Unconditional positive regard, collaboration and safety are the principles that form the foundation of our therapeutic relationship at Alder Wellness. Together, we will work to identify how your unique experiences have shaped your thoughts, feelings and behaviors, which impact how you view yourself and the world around you. I offer a safe and supportive, judgement free space to work through life’s challenges and stressors and move towards balance and healing.
I am deeply honored to be a part of your journey and can’t wait to get started!
