Hi! My name is Leanne McLaughlin. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2006 and I am a registered member of the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers.
For nearly 20 years I worked primarily in healthcare, where I supported people through both challenging times and times of growth. My practice is grounded in years of experience working in a trauma-informed way with women and their families, creating space for healing and empowerment.
I was inspired to create Alder Wellness because I felt that within institutionalized supportive care services, people were often seen through the lens of their disease or diagnosis, and that without the greater context of culture, spirituality, family and health, solutions were limited at best, and often became another source of stress or trauma. My approach is grounded in respect, compassion, collaboration and cultural understanding, which supports wellness in ways that respect the whole person.
I draw on my lived experiences to bring empathy and insight to my work, which allows me to connect with people in an authentic way, fostering trust, understanding, and to build a meaningful therapeutic relationship.
I believe that life writes on us in different ways, impacting how we relate to the world and our place in it. Through a strengths based, people centered approach, together, we will embark on a journey of defining values and getting clear on boundaries. Using a blend of trusted therapeutic approaches - Strengths-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness, you will slowly building a toolkit that allows you to meet life’s challenges with flexibility and resilience.
I am deeply honored to be a part of your journey and can’t wait to get started!
